Cubs Minor League Recap: 5/27/15

South Bend’s struggles continued with a shutout loss Tuesday. The SB-Cubs were the only team in action as Iowa was rained out. Tennessee and Myrtle Beach both had the day off. Here are some notes from yesterday’s minor league action:

Midwest League (Low-A)
Seventh Place (-7.0)

South Bend was blanked in the series opener at Dayton, 4-0. The SB-Cubs were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

  • LF Yasiel Balaguert (.248) went 2-for-3 with a double, extending his hitting streak to five games (9-for-19/.474). He has recorded four consecutive multi-hit games.
  • SS Gleyber Torres (.340) went 1-for-3 with a walk to extend his hitting streak to four games (7-for-14/.500).
  • C Cael Brockmeyer (.324) went 1-for-3. He now has a seven-game hitting streak (10-for-25/.400).
